Modged Podged Books

I saw a blog where they modge podged books for decorating purposes, and I thought I love it! So I looked for books to cover. I couldn't find any I would feel ok about altering. So I went to the D.I. I was going to buy books that I didn't care to read but I didn't want to waste my money. so I tried to find ones that sounded interesting, but knew I wouldn't be able to cover them, because I'm a book lover. so I found a few in korean. I will never be able to read them, and they were old and look better now!

Emma's Table

Before....
So Emily got Emma a Tinkerbell table for her birthday, well a few day's ago Nathan and Emma decided it needed nail polish so they poked holes in the top and poured some in. I was gonna throw it away but I just couldn't part with it now I'm so glad I decided to re cover it and add tulle.

I'm Running Away!!!!!

Today it finially happened. Emma refused to pick up the fruit snacks that her and Nate threw all over the living room, so I sent her to her room. I didn't even raise my voice. A few min. later she came out and walked to the front door holding a giant pencil with a pink striped tiger wrapped around it with a velvet scarf so it created a ball on the end of the pencil. she had boots on but no coat. I asked her what she was doing and she replied "I'm running away!" I told her she should get a coat on because it's snowing. And then I questioned her about food. She said she didn't have any, I pointed out that food costs money did she have any money? "no canI borrow some of yours?" she replied. I tried really hard not to laugh out loud. I picked her up and carried her to her room to talk about why she was leaving and where she would go. she said I was mean, because I wouldn't let her help, and she wanted to go to the desert. I then told her the desert was far away, so she asked me if I could drive her there. I told her no. So she settled for her friends house. I still said no she couldn't go live with Rebecca. She burst into tears earlier in the conversation but had calmed down when we talked about this. She has decided that she doesn't want to leave anymore. She felt warm so I took her temp. she's getting a fever it's a low grade hasn't even hit 101 yet but that might explain the sudden feelings of wanting to run away? I hope so.

Great Grandmas Afghans

Yesterday I went out into the garage and noticed a tote that I had postponed unpacking since we moved from Florida. It was labeled "BLKS" I thought "What blankets are in there?". I took it inside and opened it up. Inside were the afghans my grandma made for me and my kids when they were born, and a quilt she made for me when I was little. The quilt back is made out of a sheet I remember using at her house. It brought back so many memories. I washed all of them, and they were dry right when I was tucking the kids into bed. So tonight I shared with them the story of their Great Grandma crocheting each of them an afghan when they were born. Then covered them in warm right out of the dryer blankets. They have been hauling them around all day. I wanted to keep them hidden away to keep them safe and not let them get dirty or worn. Then I realized they were made to be enjoyed, and my children will love them more if they can use them. So I will let the kids drag them across the floor and wrap up on the couch. Thank you grandma for making these blankets, that will be a reminder of you and all the fun they have at your house! We love you so much!
